Timber: A Multifunctional Phone Holder

A Pocket Holder That Combines Nature and Technology

A pocket holder for phones or tablets, as small as it gets, using the most of its shape and volume for as many functions as possible. The softly shaped oblique lines define the ergonomic usefulness of different phone positions, ensuring stability, multifunctionality, and an open screen. The volume of the body is hollow and filled with electronics. But most of all, this is a pleasant piece of wood, a piece of living nature combined with sophisticated electronics, that can conveniently be used as a mirror.

Introducing Timber, a unique and innovative pocket holder designed by Mateja Krasovec Pogorelcnik. This multifunctional phone holder is not only a practical accessory but also a beautiful piece of art that seamlessly combines nature and technology.

What sets Timber apart from other phone holders is its adaptability and versatility. Crafted from a solid piece of noble walnut wood, Timber features softly shaped oblique lines that define the ergonomic usefulness of different phone positions. This ensures stability and allows for comfortable viewing of video content and video communication.

One of the standout features of Timber is its wireless charging capability. The hollow body of the holder is filled with electronics, including a wireless charger that is compatible with phones with built-in Qi Wifi function, iPhones, and other high-quality phones. Simply place your phone on the conical surface of Timber, and it will wirelessly charge while securely held in place.

For those who enjoy listening to music or watching videos on their phones, Timber offers an optional built-in Bluetooth speaker feature. These speakers, of the highest quality, can be seamlessly integrated into the holder, providing a rich audio experience.

Not only is Timber functional, but it is also a visually stunning piece. Each holder is crafted from a solid piece of walnut wood, ensuring a unique natural pattern and a pleasant velvety touch. The attention to detail is evident in the laser-cut plug-in outlet and audio openings, which seamlessly blend into the design.

Timber is designed to be compact and portable, making it an indispensable gadget for any pocket or purse. The slot has a universal width that fits phones and tablets of different thicknesses and sizes, allowing for both vertical and horizontal positioning. When not in use, the lid of Timber discreetly closes the electronics and doubles as a practical and convenient mirror.

The production process of Timber involves the use of CNC technology to shape the body from a solid walnut wood block. Great attention is paid to the natural graphic patterns, ensuring each piece is unique. The dimensions are carefully designed to harmoniously combine with the phone, as well as the dimensions of the electronics, wireless charger, and optional Bluetooth speakers. The final manual grinding and coating with natural oil provide soft curves and a velvety touch. The mirror cover is slightly deepened to protect against scratches.

Timber is a result of extensive research into the relationship between form and function. The thoughtful set of slopes and oblique lines combine to create a minimal cubature with interdependent functions and ergonomically thought-out forms.

The Timber project started in May 2017 in Velenje, Slovenia, and the first samples were made in October 2017. The selection and application of electronics were done in collaboration with Janos Potocnik, UJP, Hrastnik. The product is manufactured by Coper Joinery, Skofja vas, Slovenia. Regular production with all the details is still under preparation. The project has been exhibited several times, including at design exhibitions in Slovenia and at the L'Artigiano Fair in Milan.

Timber has been recognized for its exceptional design and functionality. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2018. This prestigious award is given to well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements.

Experience the perfect blend of nature and technology with Timber, the multifunctional phone holder that combines elegance, functionality, and innovation.
